First Words...

Today is Thursday.
One of my sponsors, Cassie, holds a weekly linky party over @  two-in-diapers
She wants to see funny posts, serious posts, sweet & sappy stories, mommy-brain episodes, memories from when your older children were younger, thoughts & lessons learned, and anything related to motherhood or little people.
 That's her line, not mine, but its the perfect way to sum up the linky party.

I was going through my Blogger Reading List and saw another blogger had a post about her children's 1st words.
Today I bring you Eli & Ben Henry's first words.

Eli's first word was, "PawPaw." Yep, thats right. not Mama, not Dada, not even paci which he {LOVED}
"PawPaw."

I remember vividly lying in bed with Brian on a Saturday morning hold Eli on my lap, pleading with him.
"Say Mama, say Mama.!"
Holding my breath, just hoping he would say it.
NOPE!
He looked right at me, smiled and said, "PawPaw!"
He almost giggled.
I swear, I'm not making this up.
Brian looked at me and said, "Did he just say PawPaw?"

We immediately called his Dad.
Who said, well thats probably because I whisper, "PawPaw, PawPaw, in his ear everyday while I rock him to sleep for his nap!"
Eli & his PawPaw had the best relationship.
{now that I think of it, its really so fitting that PawPaw was his first word}
We lost Brian's Dad to brain cancer in Jan. and my little dude hasn't been the same.
He says every single day how he misses his PawPaw.

Ok, now that I'm almost in tears...

Ben Henry's 1st word was,"Dada."
Not a lot of fan fare with Ben Henry.
Now I will say that he is a TOTAL momma's boy.
Don't tell Brian that, but he is.
So I say its OK that his first word was Dada.
He knows where he gets his lovin!

Now everyone go write something sweet about your kiddos!

I cannot believe Eli is going to Kindergarten this year
and Ben Henry will be going to Preschool!
MY BABIES!!!

Happy Thursday Y'all!

  2. So cute! I love your kids names. They are both really strong and sweet names. My daughter said "dada" first, and now she says "mama" and "dada" and a noise that sounds like "Pwweehh", but she doesn't know what any of those words mean (and I don't know what "Pweeehh" means!) ;) I'm your newest follower from the blog hop. Have a great day!
