Kindergarten Testing....we made it through

Photobucket

So today was Eli's Kindergarten testing.
Did I "know" he was going to do great? Yes.
Did I still have anxiety? Yes.
Did I still have him naming every letter we saw? Yes.
Was I still asking him letter sounds? You betcha.
Was I asking him to sequence things? You betcha.
Was I asking him to rhyme words? Yep.

Why was I so freaked out about this? No clue.

Do I know that some children enter Kindergarten knowing little to nothing except what they learn from television? Sad, but yes.

Do I know this first hand? Again, sad but yes.
 ( remember I teach Pre-K & K)

My big boy was prepared for Kindergarten testing because
he went to a 3 and a 4 year old preschool program.
I made sure he knew letters, numbers, colors, the basics, as he entered Kindergarten.
All the other stuff was lagniappe which I totally credit his Pre-K 4 teacher KENDALL NICHOLS
(Yep, I just wrote out her name on my blog- oh the horror!! LOL )I'll tell her tomorrow :)

I was so nervous but he did it all, answered all their questions, stumbled here and there and if he didn't know something he just said,
I don't know.
And I am A-OK with that.

Now two Mondays from now when he begins his first day at a school where he knows no one and I cant get to him ask me again how I feel because right now I am so proud of my boy. On the 27th I will be a WRECK!!

First Words...

Today is Thursday.
One of my sponsors, Cassie, holds a weekly linky party over @  two-in-diapers
She wants to see funny posts, serious posts, sweet & sappy stories, mommy-brain episodes, memories from when your older children were younger, thoughts & lessons learned, and anything related to motherhood or little people.
That's her line, not mine, but its the perfect way to sum up the linky party.

I was going through my Blogger Reading List and saw another blogger had a post about her children's 1st words.
Today I bring you Eli & Ben Henry's first words.

Eli's first word was, "PawPaw." Yep, thats right. not Mama, not Dada, not even paci which he {LOVED}
"PawPaw."

I remember vividly lying in bed with Brian on a Saturday morning hold Eli on my lap, pleading with him.
"Say Mama, say Mama.!"
Holding my breath, just hoping he would say it.
NOPE!
He looked right at me, smiled and said, "PawPaw!"
He almost giggled.
I swear, I'm not making this up.
Brian looked at me and said, "Did he just say PawPaw?"

We immediately called his Dad.
Who said, well thats probably because I whisper, "PawPaw, PawPaw, in his ear everyday while I rock him to sleep for his nap!"
Eli & his PawPaw had the best relationship.
{now that I think of it, its really so fitting that PawPaw was his first word}
We lost Brian's Dad to brain cancer in Jan. and my little dude hasn't been the same.
He says every single day how he misses his PawPaw.

Ok, now that I'm almost in tears...

Ben Henry's 1st word was,"Dada."
Not a lot of fan fare with Ben Henry.
Now I will say that he is a TOTAL momma's boy.
Don't tell Brian that, but he is.
So I say its OK that his first word was Dada.
He knows where he gets his lovin!

Now everyone go write something sweet about your kiddos!

I cannot believe Eli is going to Kindergarten this year
and Ben Henry will be going to Preschool!
MY BABIES!!!

Happy Thursday Y'all!

Really?

So with all the stuff we have going on in our lives, we had to take Eli to the dermatologist last week for a skin check he has a case of molluscum. For those of you who do not know what that is it is a skin rash that is spread in water and from towels. Its a virus in his body that cause little bumps all over his stomach and arms. We had the bumps frozen off and while we were there he saw a mole he thought looked "abnormal" so he sent it off and of course it came back " abnormal"  The Dr, now wants to dig deeper and make sure he got it all. This makes me want to puke. I am so nervous. I am SURE it nothing but with all the cancer talk and radiation talk, and blah blah I cannot possibly think about something being wrong with my baby boy!

please think good thoughts for him!!
